We’ve also had some glowing feedback from one of our customers, Mr Holmes from the Apache Software Foundation, who uses our service for business and when talking to clients. ‘I’m a serious Localphone fan. I work for a US company, so often need to make calls to colleagues. Likewise, I sometimes have to go there. Bringing together a few tricks (a localphone local number, a US SIM card, and a redirect by my phone company), I can avoid all roaming charges when abroad. It costs me 0.4p/min to call the UK, and costs me 0.4p/min to ‘receive’ calls to my UK mobile, when I am in the USA. This is cool. And I couldn’t do it without a service like yours.’

Localphone Wins ITSPA Award for Best Consumer VoIP 2013

We are proud to announce that Localphone attended the ITSPA Awards 2013 in London last week and were announced as the winners of the Best Consumer VoIP category! ITSPA (The Internet Telephony Services Providers’ Association), the voice of the UK VoIP industry, held its annual awards ceremony in the House of Commons last week in London. The awards were hosted by Dr Julian Huppert MP, Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Internet Communications and Technology Forum and were presented in 8 categories. Localphone were announced the proud winners of the Best Consumer VoIP Award, beating BT to the title, which was announced as the runner up with Highly Commended.

All entrants had to submit a written case study and self-assessment, which were independently reviewed by the ITSPA Awards judges and Malden Electronics conducted two months of technical testing for three of the categories, including Best Consumer VoIP. Paul Cusack, CEO and founder of Localphone, said, ‘It is a great honour to receive the ITSPA 2013 Award for Best Consumer VoIP and I am extremely proud of this achievement and recognition. At Localphone we’re proud to be offering one of the best international calling services in the world. We recently received some great feedback from a new customer, Tony Shaw, who has given us permission to publish his comments. If you’re not yet a Localphone customer we hope this review will encourage you to sign up to our service and give us a try.

“A friend of mine wanted to ring her sister in Germany and I said ‘not a problem,’ so she spent 16 minutes talking to her sister in Germany and her sister kept telling her to hang up as this would cost her a fortune. My friend then asked me how much it had cost to ring Germany expecting it to be $30 or more and she nearly fell over backwards when I told her it had only cost 11 cents which is cheaper than a local call! So my advice is to anyone in the world who make international calls and have to pay national phone calls to sign up to Localphone. Find a telephone company that offers free national calls, then join Localphone and you will be amazed at the low price of international calls. Also the ease of not having to dial 32 phone numbers to get to a destination like you have to do if you are using a phone card. Another advantage I have found of Localphone is if I list all my local friends on Localphone I can find their phone numbers easily instead of having to go to the white pages or phone directory.” Tony Shaw

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with free calls

Free calls to China for Chinese New Year

Incoming Numbers sale

There are no setup fees to pay when you rent an Incoming Number this month. Rent an Incoming Number from us between now and 12pm GMT 1st March and all you’ll pay is our low monthly fee plus the price of the calls.

What is an Incoming Number for?

Do you travel abroad a lot or live overseas?
Make it easy for your friends back home to keep in touch by renting a number in your home town. They can call a local number and reach you abroad.

Do you have an international business?
Rent a local number so your customers don’t have to call a foreign number.
